Aloha! Welcome to Maukashowers.com, a blog about weather, mainly in Hawaiʻi, with an emphasis on rainfall. I’m a retired hydrologist and meteorologist who worked as a Weather Officer in the U.S. Air Force, and for the National Weather Service at the Honolulu Forecast Office and the Central Pacific Hurricane Center. In between those service periods, I got my graduate degree in meteorology from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, and worked as a research meteorologist for the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaiʻi. My posts will cover a range of topics, including current weather events, data collection, seasonal conditions, and many more.

Important note: The views expressed on this website (maukashowers.com) are my own, and do not necessarily reflect the views and policies of my former employers at the U.S. Air Force, the RCUH, and the National Weather Service.

Do not come to this website for official watches, warnings, advisories, and forecasts. These products can only be obtained from the National Weather Service (weather.gov/hfo).
